Marina Savio
My Story
My name is Marina Savio. I am a South African who has been living and working in th United Kingdom since 2020. This cause is close to my heart because access to clean drinking water and sanitation is a right that is being denied to a growing number of impoverished African citizens. Considering the growing unemployment and other socio-economic challenges, this is not a problem that will solve itself. This is why I believe in a third-party involvement in this cause and why I am involving myself with WaterAid, to try and help all the beautifully diverse people of my home country rise above this challenge.
This Summer I will be taking on Swim Marathon to help raise funds for the 1 in 10 people who don't have clean water close to home.
Clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene should be a normal part of everyone's daily life. Without all three, people can't live dignified, healthy lives. With all three, they can unlock their potential, break free from poverty and change their lives for good.
With clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene, children are born healthier. They get the chance to go to school and grow up to become adults. Women and men get to earn a living. Whole communities start to thrive.
It sounds normal and it should be.
