My Story

I am taking on the WaterAid Swim Marathon early – ahead of the 2024 event that's happening 1 August 2024 - 24 October 2024 – to write about the experience for Outdoor Swimmer magazine and to help encourage and empower more readers to join this fantastic challenge later in the year.

Follow my journey to swimming 26 miles (42.2km) in 12 weeks, plus training tips and insights, at outdoorswimmer.com

Register your interest for the 2024 event at wateraid.org/uk/get-involved/events/swim-marathon

Of course, I will also be taking the opportunity to raise funds for the 1 in 10 people who don't have clean water close to home. So please consider donating to WaterAid!

Clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene should be a normal part of everyone's daily life. Without all three, people can't live dignified, healthy lives. With all three, they can unlock their potential, break free from poverty and change their lives for good.

With clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene, children are born healthier. They get the chance to go to school and grow up to become adults. Women and men get to earn a living. Whole communities start to thrive.

It sounds normal and it should be.
